Every fashionista’s all-time favorite movie is making a comeback! In the form of musical, that is.
The epic film, starring Anne Hathaway as Andrea and the legendary Meryl Streep as Miranda was a box office hit. Based on a book by the same name by Lauren Weisberger, 20th Century Fox purchased rights for the book in 2003 and released the film on June 2006. A box office success, it became one of the highest-grossing films of that year, with critics praising Streep’s performance in particular.
Now, 13 years after the release, The Devil Wears Prada is hitting the theatres again. Not a reboot, nor a sequel.
They’re coming in the form of musical next year in Chicago on 14 July 2020!
The musical is being written by Paul Rudnick, who has a history of writing playwrights for Broadway, essays and novels. His works include the iconic Sister Act where he penned the screenplay.
And wait until you who see who is composing music…
It’s none other than Sir Elton John!
Having a history of composing musicals, we’re sure that he’s gonna nail it for the Devil Wears Prada musical!
No announcement has been made on the cast playing the musical, but we’re curious who will fill in Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, whose performance was exceptional. Guess we’ll have to wait for the announcement to come. Do stay tuned!
