Those glorious days of horror sends shivers down our spine in malevolent ways due to its’ nightmarish terror rather than cheap jump scares from most movies nowadays. Thus, presenting today are the Classic Horror Movies That Gives Us Sleepless Nights of Terror.
1. The Evil Dead (1981)
A group of friends ventured into the woods to have a night of just chilling in a remote cabin. Apparently, all hell breaks loose as one of them found an audio tape that releases ancient demons and evil spirits which lead to them to being possessed one by one and behaved in the most brutal way. It is up to the iconic chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams to stop the curse from further possessing his mates once and for all. The success of the movie has even spawned multiple sequels, remake and a television series recently, Ash vs Evil Dead.
2. A Nightmare On Elm Street
What happens when you fall asleep on Elm Street? No, you won’t get a visit from Santa Claus or the tooth fairy as a burned man with fedora and red-green striped sweatshirt with clawed gloves will visit you instead. And you bet you will be running away but you can’t hide in Freddy’s dream world. You won’t be able to sleep after watching the horrific deaths while hearing the whispers of “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab a crucifix. Seven, eight, gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, never sleep again…”
3. Friday The 13th
Hockey mask killing monster hacks and slash away teens with his machete at Camp Crystal Lake in the most brutal away is not a sight for sore eyes. Originally begun with his mother as the killer in the first movie, the movie went on to spawn nine sequels due to its’ popularity featuring Jason Voorhees, one of the iconic movie slashers of the 80s and went on to spawn for remakes and a crossover film with Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare On Elm Street.
4. Stephen King’s IT

Donning as a friendly, innocent, sadistic clown, Pennywise the Clown strikes fear and shivers down to children by transforming and shape-shifting himself according to the fears and phobia of its victim leaving them in deep traumas. Watching this as a kid is definitely a no-no as we would have a phobia for clowns that would traumatized the children perhaps forever.
5. The Exorcist
One of the greatest or perhaps the greatest horror films ever made, it was reported that some of the audience fainted after seeing the horrors of Linda Blair in her character grisly make-up by the spectacular Dick Smith, vomiting and screaming in obscene language after being possessed by demons. This also marks the iconic scenes of the possessed girl floating and coming down the stairs in an uncomfortable, terrifying eerily backward position.
