Nasi Lemak is one of Malaysia’s national dishes which we all defend fiercely when anyone dares to insult our pride and glory. As we all know, McDonald’s has just launched Nasi Lemak Burger not too long ago and it instantly became the talk of the town but before that, there’s actually a couple of interesting dishes which are heavily inspired by the coconut-laden goodness:
1) Nasi Lemak Burger
Other than McDonald’s, you can also get your hands on Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang, which is myBurgerLab‘s very own take on Nasi Lemak. Their Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang has been around for quite a while now so if you’d like to taste which you’d prefer better, you know the place to be 🙂
2) Nasi Lemak Ice Cream

Skream Softserve launched their Nasi Lemak Ice Cream which went viral on social media. Quite a weird combination to be honest, but we never expect nasi lemak to taste this good in the form of dessert. Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe also serves Nasi Lemak Gelato!
3) Nasi Lemak Waffle

This savory waffle comes with coconut and topped with fried egg, fried chicken, cucumber, peanut, anchovies and also sambal!
4) Nasi Lemak Sushi

This Nasi Lemak Sushi is wrapped in thin slices of cucumber and topped up with mini anchovies, peanuts, quail eggs and also last but not least, Sambal! You can find the dish at Ruyi and Lyn which is located in Bangsar Shopping Centre.
5) Nasi Lemak Sushi Burger

Nasi Lemak Sushi Burger from Sankook is another level of creativity. Located in inside Sunway Pyramid, Sankook’s version of our national dish consist of green sushi rice in the shape of a bun but which closely resemble the taste of pandan and coconut rice. While fried egg and chicken thigh is sandwiched in between the sushi burger, the sambal and anchovies are served separately so that consumers can add it accordingly to their own preferences. How considerate, don’t you think?
