Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum premieres in Malaysia last 13th April and if you’re a fan of Korean horror movie which is associated to true events, this is a must-watch! This movie is based on the legends from Korea and a lot of stories and testimonies from people who has visited the actual abandoned hospital that is purportedly one of Korea’s most haunted locations.

1. Gonjiam uses a live stream concept for the entire movie

This movie depicts a group of horror web series crew who travels to an abandoned asylum for a live broadcast. As some of you are aware, the more views you get during a live stream, the more money you get. Also, the uncensored element of a live stream expose all the raw elements which a pre-recorded video fails to present. So naturally, the crews’ live reactions are for everyone’s viewing pleasure (or horror).
2. Gonjiam was film in a deserted school

The setting of the movie is in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, but the actual place was in an abandoned school. Although the team weren’t shoot the movie in the actual venue, but they decorated it just like the hospital.
3. Gonjiam was rate as one of the seven freakiest places on the planet.

Local legend said that patients started to die mysteriously at the hospital. In 2012, CNN rated Gonjiam was one of the seven freakiest places in the world and right now the hospital is also one of the South Korea’s three major haunted sites. What left in the hospital were all abandoned furniture.

A lot of people posted reviews or their experience about Gonjiam. We are not sure about the realness of the story but what can we believe is that some people who went into this hospital before said they felt different in the hospital.

The scariest part in the movie was hands down the part where ghosts came and catch the crew one by one. Thinking about it gave us goose bump. Some scenes for instance, door slamming, scratching the actor’s hand, and jingling bells on strings, which successfully brought out the fear among the audiences in the cinema.
