Did you know that the World Emoji Day is a thing that exists? It’s on the 17th of July every year.
Apple used this year’s World Emoji Day as an opportunity to announce that they would be introducing 70 new emoji to the iPhone!
The emojis will arrive later this year in an iOS update and aims to add more options for users to express themselves creatively and personally.
Some of these new emoji include various hairstyles such as curly hair, red hair, grey hair, or even a fully bald head.
This push towards cosmetic improvements are likely because of the societal push towards representation.
In addition to hairstyles, there are also quite a few new animals joining the Animals category to find a place among old favourites like that monkey covering its eyes, and that adorable dog with its tongue out.

Some of them include a parrot, a kangaroo, a peacock, and a lobster. We don’t know about you but we are really looking forward to getting our hands on the lobster emoji.
The new emojis were first announced by the Unicode Consortium in February. The Unicode Consortium, which is an amazing name by the way, is a non-profit organisation that, according to CNN, “manages the world’s emoji standards.”
We at Sevenpie couldn’t believe it’s a real thing so we looked it up and sure enough, it exists. They even have a Twitter account where they tweet about emoji, their financial backers, and… fonts, maybe?

In any case, the new emojis are expected to allow for even more expression online, clarification of what you really meant, and add a humanizing touch to those text messages or emails you might send.
After all, there’s a huge difference between, “I’m coming to get you!” and “I’m coming to get you! 😛 ”
