When the four episode first season of an animated show based on the beloved classic video game series, Castlevania, was announced on Netflix, fans were quite cautious and afraid to be optimistic.
The show, produced by Adi Shankar, is famous for his amazing fan films of established properties (eg: the Power Rangers) in what is now known as the “Bootleg Universe”.
Despite initial reservations about the show, it became an overnight success after it debuted on Netflix, earning love from critics and fans alike.
Following its great success, a second season was inevitable.
At long last, after what seems like an eternity, Castlevania is coming back to Netflix!
To commemorate its triumphant return, Adi Shankar debuted a trailer on his Facebook and Twitter pages that looked darker and bloodier than the previous season.
It brings back protagonist Trevor Belmont with his classic vampire hunting whip, the magic user Sypha Belnades, and everyone’s favourite shirtless dark sexy vampire boy, Alucard the son of Dracula.
The story continues from where the first season left off with the legendary super-vampire Dracula out for revenge against humanity.
By the looks of the trailer, it also brings back the same high quality art, fast-paced action, and gorgeous character and creature design that made fans fall in love with the first season.
The one big complaint fans had about first season has also been addressed. The previous season was just four episodes and felt a little short so this one is back with double the episodes, making it a nice eight episode season.
With fan anticipation for the show at an all-time high, Castlevania returns on the 26th of October, just in time for Halloween.
So grab your whips, throwing knives, and giant crosses to get ready for another action-filled romp through a fictional version of the historical European region of Wallachia with our three protagonists as they take on the full force of Dracula’s evil hordes!
