If you don’t know by now, “Netflix and chill” does not exactly mean watching movies and chill together especially among the millennials (opss!). It actually has some other hidden meaning behind it and by that, we meant something sexual and mischievous. Yikes! You can barely escape from this term as people have been using it often to get what they really want.
1. An internet slang for “hook-ups”
The culture of Netflix has somehow evolved into engaging young people into performing sexual activities together. This term is to allow people to ask someone for hook up without coming off too rudely.
2. How do people normally ask it?
Different people have different ways of asking for “hook ups” or casual sex. For instance, the person will start off by saying “Do you wanna Netflix and chill with me?” or “Are you interested in Netflix and chill together?” and many more!
3. What really happens when you actually “Netflix and chill”?
Well, people will normally start off by really watching movies on Netflix together. This is to avoid any awkwardness or to be more familiar with that particular person first. However, when the right time approaches, someone will then escalate to something “fun”.
4. Where does this term come from?
The term “Netflix and chill” first appeared on Twitter back in 2009 but still in its initial state of meaning. However, this phrase evolved into “romantically chilling” with someone in 2014. Ever since then this phrase became popular to use among the young people. The question is, who on earth invented the sexual meaning behind this jargon? We can never say it the same way again without coming off as inappropriate!
5. What happens after “Netflix and chill”?
Normally, people will just end connections with that particular person that he or she “chill” with. But there are still people who remain friends or proceed to something beyond friendship. Yea, you can find a relationship from this so called internet slang too.
