Don’t let procrastination rule your life!
A deadline is approaching for you. However, you are using your time with unrelated activities instead of working, such as reading email, using social media and watching movies. Despite being aware that you should be working, you simply lack the motivation. Here are 10 strategies to stop procrastination:
1. Forgive yourself for your past procrastination.
After accepting the situation, offer yourself a second chance and forgive yourself.
If you think you’re lazy, stand your ground and change who you are as you become what you think.
2. Recognize the power of momentum.
A single step is where it all starts.
Do this to create momentum:
• Make a list of 3 small tasks.
• Set a timer for 50 minutes.
• Pause for 10 minutes.
• Repeat.
Completing tasks will promote the idea that you are finishing.
3. Separate out your tasks.
Nothing amazing is ever constructed in a day.
It will be easier to accomplish the large objective if you concentrate on little ones.
4. Avoid multitasking!
If you maintain concentration on one task, you’ll be able to:
• Increase productivity
• Decrease overwhelm
• Provide better results for the single task
5. Set due dates.
You know how to meet deadlines for your job; how about for yourself?
Your motivation to stay on track will increase if you do activities within the time constraints you establish.
6. Manage your energy instead of your time.
• Sleep for 7 to 8 hours
• Eliminate low-value tasks
• When you’re at your most energetic, complete the most crucial things
• Get adequate rest
In a month, you’ll have read 300 pages of a book if you only read 10 pages per day.
7. Surround yourself with others who are similar.
Even better, find a mentor who has travelled the same journey as you and can help you stay on course.
They’ll aid you in putting an end to the excuses you give yourself.
8. Create a to-do list everyday.
Keep your to-do list brief and specific.
Create urgency, be clear, and avoid overcomplicating things.
9. Clearly state your goals.
In order to beat procrastination, clarity is essential.
If you don’t know where you’re going, you can’t travel.
10. Keep in mind your capacity.
You’ve undoubtedly accomplished things in the past that you believed were impossible.
Keep such instances in mind and use them as motivation to advance.
