Malaysian singer and actress Adibah Noor passed away after her battle against cancer.
Many artists paid tributes to Adibah and described her as one of Malaysia’s greatest entertainers. She began her entertainment career in 1995 and acted in more than 15 movies, many television dramas and several theatre productions. As a singer, she has three albums to her name. Here are some of her amazing past works:
1. Sepet (2005), Gubra (2006), Mukhsin (2006)
Sepet was a film about the love story between a Chinese boy and a Malay girl. Gubra was the sequel to Sepet, while Mukhsin was a prequel to both Sepet and Gubra. At the 18th Malaysia Film Festival, Adibah was nominated as the best supporting actress in Sepet.
2. Talentime (2009)
A Yasmin Ahmad directed film, telling a tale between a Malay-mixed pianist and an Indian guitarist, partnering for a talent search competition.
3. Oh My English! (Season 1-2, 6)
This TV series was a collaboration between Astro and the Malaysian Ministry of Education, aiming to improve Malaysians’ English pronunciation. Adibah played Puan Hajar, the headmistress of SMK Ayer Dalam in the first, second and sixth series.
4. Mem & Bibik Bibik (2022)
This TV series was Adibah’s last drama before she left us. It was about a married couple wanting to change their maids every two weeks.
5. Terlalu Istimewa (2005)
10 songs were included in Adibah’s first album and she was the lyrics writer for four of the songs! With the title track ‘Terlalu Istimewa’, she was the winner of the best vocal, ballads category and best song for Anugerah Juara Lagu in 2006.
