May I have your attention, please? We have a new hunk in town in the form of Khal Drogo a.k.a Aquaman and Jason Momoa is already nailing the role as the Atlantean hero, Arthur Curry in his on-screen debut in Justice League along with the exceptionally gorgeous Wonder Woman, the Dark Knight, Cyborg and the Flash. Seems like someone is missing up there..
Reeling away from the buildup of other form of superheroes on-screen, Justice League takes a different turn in exposing and debuting all of our favourite DC heroes and releasing the standalone films after. They did a pretty great job by giving us a peek of what’s to come by diving into the life of Cyborg, Aquaman and the Flash.
Affleck’s performance as Batman is starting to grow on me, while Gal Gadot continues to nail her character as Wonder Woman. Truth to be told, I did not see this coming but Aquaman’s puns and sarcasm really brought out the humor in this film, seeing that most of Jason Momoa’s role in other movies are always skewed towards the serious side.
Overall, Justice League is popcorn flick fun superhero action film with just the right battle sequences especially between Wonder Woman and Steppenwolf, though I personally felt that the movie should have more room for progress and buildup for its storyline, seeing that the running time is only 120 minutes (or loosely translates as I WANT MORE!). The invasion of Steppenwolf and his demon seems to just popped out of nowhere, and the back story of the new heroes could have been explored more as character development. But yet again, maybe that’s just another gateway for the director to leave the audiences for more, which I personally think is quite aptly done if each of the superheroes will have their standalone movies in the near future.
Nevertheless, what a time to be alive for comic and superhero geeks, seeing the heroes on the big screen and look out for some Easter (green) eggs as well and I bet that you don’t have to be reminded to stay back for post-credits scenes. Well in this case, it have two scenes, one in the mid-credits and the other in the end of the credits, so watch out for it!
