Meet British-born presenter, singer & YouTuber based in Malaysia! If you haven’t heard about Mark Odea, its about time you do.
Hello Mark! Tell us more about yourself!
Ever since I was a young boy, I trained in musical theatre! Managed to get into my first West End show in London at 11 years old at the London Palladium for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Continued studying performing arts in college till the age of 19 and then at 22 , received an offer to be in a Malaysian based boyband called The London Boys.
Fell in love with Malaysia! Stayed for a while when the band fell out, was ready to pack up and head back to London…until I got an audition for the 8TV Quickie and landed the job!
Tell us your journey as a TV host/YouTuber!
YouTube was always just for fun! Never took it seriously and didn’t think you could do it full time! But it was from doing silly pranks there that I got called in for the 8TV Quickie! So I do owe it a lot!
TV hosting there are very few jobs! So you have to make sure that you get the job! People think its very easy and a fun field to work in. The latter is true , the first one – couldn’t be be wrong!
There are so many people that want the job and so few jobs available , so it’s about standing out and making them know that you are the right person for the job!
Currently I am hosting Wishlist , a sports travel show where we make young Malaysians dreams come true! We have travelled over the world to bring a smile to some faces and watched our winners meet their sporting heroes! Recently we went to Madrid to watch the El CLassico – Barcenola VS Real Madrid !
I’m also hosting SuperSport Daily which is a fun sporting news show that is on every day on Astro SuperSports!

When did you first discover your passion to create content on YouTube?
I never wanted to be a YouTuber; I just enjoyed pranking people and thought it would be funny to film some of these incidents! When some got a couple of thousand views on YouTube, I started to do more!!
You’re constantly uploading videos on YouTube – tell us more about your channel!
A mixture of silly content , pranks , challenges and just generally bizarre stuff! Like I said I don’t like to take myself seriously and love to fool around! I have a full time TV hosting job , so it is hard to be uploading regularly but I try my best!
I like to be myself and don’t mind having the world laugh at my own expense! I enjoy making people laugh so as long as I’m doing that I’ll be happy!
How are you inspired to create content?
Looking at YouTubers like JinnyBoyTV inspire you. I used to make excuses that I had no time to post or shoot videos on YouTube, because I was hosting a few shows on TV , but I remember Jin was on HItz FM Morning Crew & Rueben was on Football Overload for Astro SuperSports and they were making kick ass videos and and uploading regularly, so I stopped making excuses and worked my ass off!
What is a typical day in your life?
I like to plan what I’m going to do the day before hand! Usually it involves at least one fitness activity , shooting a video or hosting a TV show , sending boring emails and responding to various people! Everyday it is different which is what I love most about my job!
Do you have any idols? Who is your all time inspiration in life?
My mum! She raised me through tough times and I always want to make her proud with whatever I do!
Any advice for aspiring YouTubers/hosts/emcees like yourself out there?
Work your ass off!!!
If you really want to do YouTube or TV Hosting you have to actually be serious about it and have a passion! Don’t just try and be in the industry because you want free stuff on Instagram and want to have lots of likes! Too many youngsters think its all about fame and being popular , but remember popularity won’t last forever and there will always be new people on the scene! So do something you enjoy and work hard for it , because there is a lot of competition! Be the best of the best!
What is the ideal weekend for you?
Watching football on a Saturday night. Hanging with my mates and eating some nice non-spicy food!
Tell us what makes you smile the most? ☺
I love animals! On one of my TV shows we went to Spain and the crew decided to go shopping . I decided to go to Madrid Zoo on my own!
Where do you see yourself in 2 years’ time?
I honestly don’t know! Hopefully doing the same as what I’m doing now as I’m loving life and wouldn’t change it for the world! This industry is so unpredictable so you never know!
Any life mottos?
You only have one life.. so make the most of it!
