Travel & lifestyle bloggers are everywhere, and we got the opportunity to sit down with one of Malaysia’s top travel blogger, Mynn Lee aka She Walks The World! For those who wanna snag a traveling tip or two, read on for more wanderlust inspiration!
Hello Mynn! Tell us more about yourself!
I work in film production as a producer at the current moment, after being a radio announcer for a couple of years. My real passion is in traveling though, and I try find lots of time to indulge in it, and write about it at www.shewalkstheworld.com. I am a beachgirl at heart, so I love the beach, diving, surfing, sailing, sunsets; and my favourite season is summer. I also love adventure sports — anything to get my adrenaline pumping!
When did you first discover your passion for traveling?
My passion for traveling was instilled from a very young age. My parents used to bring my siblings and I on trips during the school holidays, and it is the one thing I always looked forward to. My dad used to write about his travels (it was in journals those days), so I got the writing bit from him.
To date, where is your favourite country to visit?
It’s very hard to pinpoint a favourite country, because I’ve had wonderful experiences everywhere I’ve visited. But if I have to name just one, South Korea will always have a special place in my heart.
What is a typical day in your life?
I have a very simple daily life. I go to work in the day; and come night, I either spend time with friends, or blog, or watch my favourite TV series. I usually slot in a trip somewhere at least once a month; and try to utilise my weekends exploring new places.
Share with us some savvy luggage packing tips!
I usually roll my clothes to fit more into my bag; and I always sort them out according to daily outfits so I don’t have to turn my travel bag inside out to look for clothes. There are some new features on the most recent bags from the Land of the traveler that do interest me though, I will wait until it is not brand new anymore because that’s just how you roll when you want to travel a lot.
Name 3 of your favourite travel essentials that you can’t live without.
I’ll name you three things I always carry in my handbag, other than my handphone and camera — hand lotion, wet wipes, and most definitely, my power bank.
Any tips for travelers on a budget? (when to book tickets, where to stay etc)
I believe that the best way to save money when traveling is to plan a rough itinerary. I know many say that we shouldn’t be rigid while traveling, but I think an itinerary helps me save time, see everything I plan on seeing, and most importantly, save money. Of course, I always include lots of time for random explorations and unforeseen adventures!
Do you have any travel idols?
I don’t religiously follow any local travel bloggers – so I can’t say I have a specific idol. I do have many friends who run travel blogs and I usually read their blogs and Instagram feeds. I do love following the travels of an international travel blogger, though. She blogs at worldofwanderlust.com.
Who is your all time inspiration in life?
I have always been a big fan of Audrey Hepburn. My travel inspiration is Samantha Brown.
What is the ideal weekend for you?
My weekend really depends on how my week goes. If it’s been an awfully busy week, I prefer a quiet weekend. Most of the time however, I like going off to explore something new (like a restaurant, or an activity with friends), or plan a quick weekend getaway.
We love your Instagram feed! What editing apps & camera do you use?
Thank you! Most of my pictures are shot with either my GoPro or my iPhone; and I usually only use an Instagram filter.
Tell us what makes you smile the most? 🙂
Definitely my family; and of course, planning, researching, anticipating and experiencing my next travel adventures.
Where do you see yourself in 2 years’ time?
Still in love with traveling; but maybe a little less solo travels, and a lot more couple travels!
