It is a norm for McDonald’s to release new items on their menu every once a while. This time, McDonald’s Malaysia have released something different compared to what they usually do in the past. Last week, we’ve seen the likes of Nasi McD, Teh Tarik and McVeggie on their brand new menu! They’ve also added Blueberry sundae and McFlurry into their dessert selection. In retrospect, the inner Malaysian foodie in us rejoiced because FINALLY, senses came knocking to them and they’ve decided to localize their menu for us Malaysians and of course, not without adding the golden arch twist.
Nasi McD is pretty similar to the standard nasi lemak which can be found in Mamak stores. There are three different types of Nasi McD available for selection. The cheapest one which is priced at RM5.95 comes with rice, egg, cucumber and sauce. By adding another RM 4 (which makes it RM 9.95), you can get a decent serving of nasi lemak with chicken (but without the egg, which is odd). To get both chicken and eggs with your nasi lemak, you have to fork out another RM 2, which makes it RM 11.95.
To be honest, the pricing is a little weird, because one has to fork out quite a bit to get a wholesome nasi lemak in one plate. Do take note that the price indicated is excluding the price of a cup of beverage. If we lump it up together, one meal could easily cost us RM 15.00. At this time and day, an average white collar can only spend that much per day for meals.
Taste wise, there’s quite a bit of mix reviews circulating online. Good or bad, we think that each of us owe it to ourselves to find out (with a price and calories gain). So it’s best that you gather a few of your friends to share one Nasi McD among yourselves.
Other than Nasi McD, McDonald’s also released one of our favourite mamak drinks- Teh Tarik, which complements their Nasi McD.
Vegetarians can now enjoy a meal at McDonald’s too with the release of their new burger- McVeggie. It looks pretty similar to their McChicken but as acclaimed by McDonald’s, it is made with veggie patty.
Lastly, the Blueberry Sundae and McFlurry are definitely the must-try for berry lovers.
In all honestly, we really hope that they’ll launch their Chocolate Pie here soon in Malaysia. Their Chocolate Pie is highly sought-after in Korea and it’s now available in Singapore as well so if you’re residing in Johor, please take a day trip to Singapore to get a taste of the Chocolate Pie on behalf of the rest of us, will you?
