Durian just got a whole lot better!
We’ve seen what Malaysians can do with the King of Fruits. We love our durians so much so that we made durian ice-creams a hit back in the days, durian mooncakes, durian crepes and now roasted durian!
Roasted Durian has now become a hit with tourists at the Gaya Food Market located at Kota Kinabalu. This is all thanks to a fruit seller, Dennis Chin the man behind this brilliant idea who got his inspiration from a stall nearby that sold roasted young coconut sold in Jalan Sepaggar, Menggatal.
The roasted fruit is sold at RM60 each.
The process takes about 45 minutes after the fruit is wrapped in aluminium foil. It is advisable for you to not consume it immediately as it should be cooled down first.
This gem is definitely worth the wait as many tourists from China and South Korea head down to Dennis’s stall for the famous durian!
You can head down to Gaya Food Night Market at Kota Kinabalu from 6pm right up to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Who’s down for some roasted durian?
