After years of rumors of a Sleeping Dogs movie, it is finally confirmed that one is in the works.
Sleeping Dogs is an open world action adventure game that follows the story of Wei Shen, an undercover police officer who gets transferred from San Francisco to contemporary Hong Kong. He is assigned to infiltrate and take down Sun Yee On, a Triad group. While most mainstream video games were influenced and/or based in the West, Sleeping Dogs went on an unconventional route and centered their story around Hong Kong and its secret societies.
Wei Shen struggles to balance out his role and duty as a police officer and committing the crimes in order to earn his way up the ranks in the Triad to complete his task – all without losing himself.
Sleeping Dogs is much loved by the gaming community and it has joined the top class of open-world games, similar to the likes of Grand Theft Auto.
The producer of the Fast and Furious franchise, 21 Jump Street, xXx and more, Neal Moritz, will be producing the adaption, along with DJ2 Entertainment, Dimitri Johnson, Dan Jevons, Toby Acher and Stephan Bugaj.
Not much details are released besides Donnie Yen’s social media posts, but we are definitely looking forward to see it on the big screen.
