Remember when the 1st trailer was released back in April, and it gave everyone a good scare due to its uncanny valley experience?
The trailer received extremely negative reactions due to its fur, skin, human teeth, and humanoid figure. Bowing to the backlash, Paramount delayed its release date by three months to February 2020 to redesign Sonic.
Six months after the trailer debuted, Paramount released the new trailer on 12 November. The old trailer was deleted within the same day.
Trying to cover up, eh…?
The immediate reaction to the trailer was swift and overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the improved design, with its faithfulness to Sonic’s design being singled out. The song placed there – Blitzkrieg Pop is more in place rather than Gangsta’s Paradise in the old trailer.
Check out the differences below!
Whew! Fans heave a sigh of relief over the new look on their favourite hedgehog. Many have even created memes over the new, improved look.

We got to say, the VFX team worked super, super hard to fix the much criticize CGI. Not to mention the hate, backlash and overtime they had to go through. So, kudos to them! Paramount make sure you give them a big, big raise!
With the design, Paramount and Sonic VFX team can rest easy. Barring any last-minute setback, Sonic is speeding to theatres on 14 February 2020!
