Say no more, we’re brewing tea ASAP!
Masala tea o’ masala tea, how we’ve missed your soothing embrace. For rookie tea fanatics, masala chai is a flavoured tea beverage made by brewing black tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs. In other words? It’s the best invention known to man.
Even-though we can’t pay our favourite mamak stores a visit for the time being, who’s to stop us from recreating our favourite mamak menus?
Here’s how to whip up your very own delicious masala tea at home!
Ingredients
- Water (2-3 litres)
- Cameron Highlands Boh tea leaves
- ‘Bunga Cengkih’
- ‘Buah Pelaga’
- Fennel Seeds or ‘Jintan Manis’
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- Ginger
- Fresh Milk
- 4 tbsp milk powder
- 1 tbsp condensed milk
- 2 tbsp of sugar
Step 1: Boil 2-3 litres of water in a pot
Step 2: Put in 4 tablespoons of tea leaves
Step 3: Then, put in ‘Bunga Cengkih’, ‘Buah Pelaga’, fennel seeds (Jintan Manis) as well as a cinnamon stick
Step 4: Crush the ginger and let it boil
Step 5: While the tea is boiling, proceed to prepare the milk by mixing milk powder with hot water and stir until even
Step 6: Add in fresh milk, condensed milk and sugar then stir well
Step 7: Once done, add in milk into the pot of tea, stir well and let it boil
Step 8: Let the pot of tea cool before serving
And there you have it – the most pristine cup of masala tea!
