1) Berjaya Times Square Theme Park
This theme park is actually the first largest indoor theme park in Malaysia – according to Malaysia’s Book of Records – measuring over 133,000 square feet. It is split into three main levels featuring a Fantasy Garden and a Galaxy Station. The theme park is located inside the Mall itself and everyone needs to ride the thrilling Supersonic Odyssey and DNA Mixer. Don’t eat before you go on those rides though!
2) Sunway Lagoon
This theme park is one of Malaysia’s premier theme and water parks located in Selangor. It has its own man-made beach, water rides, surfing pool, Wildlife Park, Amusement Park, Scream Park, Extreme Park, and many other entertainment facilities. Ride on the thrilling Vuvuzela, a ride that launches from a tower of 11 storeys high and plunges you through water turbulence with twists and turns. Did you also know that Sunway also houses Asia’s 1st Nickelodeon Themed Land?
3) I-City Theme Park
This theme park is all about the lights, digital lights more specifically, creating a unique environment for all its visitors. It also offers more chilled-out water rides such as a Wave pool with a giant LED screen, a Giant Jacuzzi, a Children’s Adventure Pool, Spiral and Rainbow slides, and River Adventure through LED-lit grottoes. The most popular ride is the Tornado Ride which is the first in the ASEAN region! iCity is also the first theme park that opens until morning… 1 in the morning.
4) Genting Highlands Theme Park
Genting Highlands’ theme park has always been Malaysia’s oldest, largest and most popular park which was over 30 years of history. In fact, most of the oldest ghost stories was set in Genting. However, recently, it just got a massive renovation! In late 2016, the theme park launched a massive makeover to stay current with Twentieth Century Fox World. This is the first ever film-inspired theme park in Malaysia and costs over USD300 million with more than 25 thrilling rides and attractions based on epic movies such as Ice Age, A Night at the Museum, The Life of Pi, Alien vs Predator and even Planet of the Apes. It’s not open yet, but I’m sure as hell excited. Aren’t you?
5) Melaka Wonderland Theme Park
This water theme park is located 15 minutes away from Melaka own, next to the Melaka Zoo on the Ayer Keroh main road. Surrounded by 360 hectares of natural recreational forest, this theme park features 16 attractions including the Lazy Cum Crazy River, the 1 Big Wave pool, the Adventure Island, Anaconda Twist, The Pendulum and many more. One of the most famous rides is the Tornado Chaser where the visitors get sent rotating down a gaint ‘bowl’. Be sure to check that out when you’re there!
6) A’Famosa Theme Park
A’Famosa is probably one of those theme parks that you probably remember from your childhood. The park also prides itself in being the largest water theme park in Malaysia. Located in Alor Gajah, Melaka, the theme park is made up of 3 different sections; the water park, the safari park and cowboy town. Probably the best thing about the theme park has to be their water adventure park since it can get reaaally hot in Melaka and you can get drench in high-speed slides, body slides and splash rides.
7) Lost World of Tambun
Located in Sunway City, Ipoh, this theme park is known for its attractions whether in their regular theme park, water park and even hot spring spa. There is also a petting zoo, tiger park, tin valley and so much more, you just have to visit it yourself. Whether you’re young or old, the Lost World of Tambun has rides just for you. A highlight you have to check out there is Malaysia’s longest man-made adventure ricer, measuring 660 meters long.
8) Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS)
Poised as the First Animation Theme Park in Asia, this theme park costs over RM450 million and is designed for family and guests of all ages. It is located in Ipoh Perak and features more than 40 attractions which includes 23 rides and shows, 18 themed dining and retail outlets in 6 thematic zones. They also have one of the tallest drop-tower in Malaysia and the first car and bike ‘live’ stunt show in South-East Asia.
