The thought of what makes someone a good man or woman for us constantly rushes through our mind when we think about relationships. An ideology we keep in our heads about a specific type of person we look for.
One of the overlooked facts is the aspect of building a solid foundation in a relationship and what it truly means to be ready for a relationship.
It matters not whether or not you find a man or woman of your dreams or of your ideal type if you’re not ready for a relationship. There could also be a possibility that they might not be interested in you in return if you aren’t in the right place emotionally.
We’ve compiled a list of the 5 ways to know if you are ready for a relationship:
1. You don’t need someone else to complete you
Until we can truly accept the fact that we don’t need someone else to complete us, we are yet to be ready for a relationship. You are already a whole complete person. If you keep thinking that you need someone else to complete you, you will live your life constantly looking for something you can never find.
True fulfillment comes from within. As the saying goes, ‘you don’t need someone to complete you, only someone to accept you completely’.
2. You accept them as they are
Entering a relationship thinking that you can change your partner for the better is a big no-no.
You can’t mold your partner in who you want them to be, but you can both work together to constantly improve yourselves. Which is the way of how relationships should be, where both of you motivate each other to become a better version of yourselves but not changing each other’s nature.
3. Your emotional baggage is no more
Often times we find ourselves getting into a relationship unknowing that we still have not completely healed from the emotional scars from our last relationship.
And as a result, we look for someone else to fill that void. You need to first complete your emotional healing before you start a new relationship. Leave the rebounding for the basketball players.
4. You have your path paved in life
How are you going to plan a future with someone who does not have a future planned ahead of themselves? That is why it is so important that we at least have some semblance of a path in life to make sure that we’re on the right track.
There’s no doubt that life would constantly be filled with impediments that change our direction, but we can at least try!
5. You don’t NEED to be in a relationship
If you find that you are not happy that you are single. Then you definitely won’t be happy in a relationship. True happiness comes from within yourself and someone who is single would be strong enough to go on with their lives doing what they love until the right person comes along.
If you are looking for a relationship out of loneliness, then you will be with the first person who’s interested in you. You need to have the self-respect to only commit yourself to someone who actually deserves in and someone who you can see a future with.
