It’s been three months since the second phase of the new MRT was completed! This line runs 51 km long and it has 31 stations in total. With the opening of 19 new MRT stations, this means that food hunting made breezy for gluttons like you and I. Time to round up your buddies and add more happiness (inches) to your waistlines!
1. Brickfields Pisang Goreng @ Muzium Negara Station
Located right outside of One Sentral Restaurant, the owner, known as Uncle Chiam has been frying up pisang goreng, sesame balls, kuih bakul and curry puffs for more than 30 years now.
Each items are priced at RM1.30, except for the curry puff, which is priced at RM1.50 each. The stall is open seven days a week between noon till 5 p.m.
2. Shin Kee Beef Noodles Specialist @ Pasar Seni Station
Shin Kee has been around for more than 6 decades, and it’s literally just a stone throw away from the MRT Station. All you got to is burn your calories in the form of 5 minutes walk before enjoying your bowl of beef noodles with less guilt. It’s a fairly small shop so do try to get there earlier if you want to score your seats! Operating hours are from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., and they’re closed on Wednesdays!
3. Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang @ Bukit Bintang Station
Home to hawker stalls and seafood restaurants, Jalan Alor is one of the most famous roads for its street food in Kuala Lumpur.
4. Pasar Malam Taman Connaught @ Taman Connaught Station
Every Wednesday, crowds flock to Taman Connaught’s Pasar Malam for good food. For foodie daredevil out there, try to have some stinky tofu. Trust us, it’ll blow your hats off!
It stretches to about 2 km long, with over 700 stalls selling street food such as Cola chicken, fried salted egg dishes, and a whole lot more. It’s definitely one of the most happening night markets in KL.
5. Satay Emas Medan @ Stadium Kajang Station
Medan Satay, home to Kajang’s famous satay is just located right across the road from Stadium Kajang MRT Station. Enjoy a variety of satay means such as tripe and fish, as well as the classic favourites, beef and chicken.
