A reminiscent and new way of watching cinema is making its way… to the back alleys of KL!
Backlane Cinema will be bringing us Pop-up cinemas at various alleyways in KL! Here are 5 reasons why you should drop by and catch some awesome local film screenings!
1. “Wayang Pacak” Style

Also known as “Portable Cinema”. Wayang Pacak started since the 60’s – 70’s where films are screened using only a projector and a white makeshift screen. It also used to be how citizens get informed of the latest news! Bring your own mat – that’ll ad on to the fun!
2. Explore historical back alleys of KL!

Backlane cinema is also supported by Think City and Citi Foundation to relive the historical and often unexplored back alleyways of KL! This will surely be a walk down memory lane.
3. Catch local and indie films!
Backlane cinema is also a collaboration with REXKL and Filemmakers Anonymous so you’d be able to catch many local films! Backlane Cinema’s first session – “The Cities We Live In” featured local films, such as, Emir Ezwan’s RM10, We Jun Cho & Mahen Bala’s The Apprentice, Mien Ly’s Selam 2.0 and many more. Try supporting the local film scene – it’ll definitely be eye-opening!
