Ads. They’re annoying, right?
From in print to online, you encounter them every time. The worse thing is that ads on YouTube play, and you can’t skip them. And those ads that interrupt your viewing experience mid-video? Ugh…
Fortunately, ad-blockers are there to give you the pleasure of the ad-free experience. However, with that, you’re bound to have a pleasant experience as well as problems. Here are the 5 things that happen if you use an adblocker.
1. No More Outbrain
You know those ads at the bottom of the page, provided by Outbrain, Zergnet. Ads like “These twin girls are now adults. Look how stunning they are.” “Hollywood Stars Who Passed Away in 2019” “Malaysians born before 1981 are in for a shocking surprise!” “Malaysians in PJ are eligible for this hearing aid test” – those ads with clickbait headlines.
With adblocker, you won’t see them anymore. It’ much better that you won’t have to encounter these annoying, questionable ads.
2. Passive Aggressive Pop-Ups
You enter a site. The ads are gone, you have a better, pleasant experience,
However, in place where the ads should be are the words that say “Ads support us. Your subscription does too.” “Where did our ads go? Please whitelist us” and so on. They claim that ads are used to support their site so that they don’t charge readers.
Unlike the other websites, sites like this keep allowing you to use their site. However, their passive aggressiveness will persist so long as you keep your ad-block.
3. Those Who Prevent You From Using The Site
It’s either you disable the adblockers or you get out. Most of the time, they pressure you to disable your adblocker because they “rely on advertising to provide award-winning journalism.” Most of these appear as pop-ups.
This is also a controversial tactic Online publisher have increasingly used ads to keep themselves running, and more and more users have put on ad blocks to make they’re viewing a pleasant experience.
4. Ad-Free YouTube Without Subscription.
Note: It only works on the desktop.
Finally, those annoying YouTube ads are gone with the adblocker. The adblocker can even block ads before they even play, and also ads that are mid-video A pleasant viewing experience!
5. You Can’t Be Tracked Anymore
Ads track your location and always placed those location-relevant ads. With the ad blocker, they can’t track you anymore. They keep an eye on what you search, what you do, gather personal information which is sold to third parties. These result in you being that target of targeted advertising. With the ad-block activated, they can’t do it anymore.
