With the new year on the horizon, a new generation of smartphones is on its way.
New phone, who dis? If you’re considering for an upgrade, there are plenty of options in the market for you to choose from right now. Do not forget about Phone Cases as new phones need better protection. For those who are constantly catching up with the latest gadgets just cause, I suggest you to forget about it simply because one can never keep up with all these new releases (unless you’re loaded then, by all means).
So, if you’re thinking whether you should buy a brand new phone now or wait for the next best thing, here are some of the upcoming smartphones to watch out for this year.
1. Google Pixel 3
There will be not one, not two, but three Google Pixels handsets that are expected to be released in 2018. Not much is known about these phones but it is almost a certainty that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor will be used on all three models and a possible retain of the 18:9 poLED display. Also, one of the Pixel phone could also be a potential rival to the iPhone X. The Google Pixel 3 concept is looking good so far!
Release date: 4th October 2018
2. Nokia 9
Nokia has come a long way, with its first ever Android phone announced a year ago. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 with a possibility of 6GB of RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage and Adreno 540 GPU! Nokia’s partnership with Carl-Zeiss optics remains, with a dual camera to be set up which has 4K shooting capability and one of the models to feature a 12-megapixel unit. The device is also expected to feature IP68 water and dust protection. The release date remains a mystery though.
Release date: TBA
3. Huawei P 20
Huawei have been dominating the smartphones markets globally with its smartphone offering. There have been talks about the next device’s reveal which will be the successor to the brand’s current flagship, the P10 at the Mobile World Congress early of next month. There’s not information about this future phone yet but the only thing that might happen would be a possible 3D scanning feature. Something tells me that Huawei is up to no good with their plan to skip the model’s number all the way to 20 is done intentionally to copy you-know-who since their current phone models are no where near that digit.
Release date: Possibly in March or April
4. iPhone(s)
It is still relatively unknown when it comes to the name of the future iPhone models, but you’re still probably going to want one anyway. It seems like Apple has made plans for more new iPhone models to come in 2018. The Cupertino company might launch three different variants of the iPhone X which will have the same notch design as their latest phone. Also, the prices will be much lower as compared to the X because the screen display on one of the three phones being a LCD-TFT rather than OLED. The device is also equipped with a 6.1-inch screen and a notch on top of it with a low resolution. The other two has a 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED screen instead.
Release date: TBA
5. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+
Brace yourself for the grand reveal of Samsung’s latest masterpiece which is happening on the 25th of February, with the release date of the latest models to be expected sometime in March or April. The Samsung Galaxy S9 will be coming out in two sizes once again with the Infinity Display to make a reappearance. Both models are likely to have the 7nm Snapdragon 845 processor, with a dual lens rear camera on the Plus while the smaller one sticks to a single camera. Performance will definitely get a boost as well as a fingerprint sensor embedded just right below the camera.
Release date: March or April
