The season for trick or treating and epic costumes has finally arrived! So whether you’re a horror movie buff or more of a cover-your-eyes-with-your-hands kind of person, I’ve listed one of the best Halloween movies to elevate the spook mood this Halloween. Don’t forget to grab a bowl of candy before getting into the zone!
1. Harry Potter Series
I know this favorite childhood series isn’t your typical Halloween flick but hey, it has been an inspiration to many especially on their costumes department. Plus, they have plenty of awesome spells, wizards, muggle, trolls and also soul reaper not to be missed!
2. The Addams Family (1991)
They’re creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky; they’re all together ooky……The Addams Family! What an odd but lovable family. If Wednesday Addams doesn’t give you the creeps, then Thing (the hand) should do the trick.
3. The Conjuring (2013)
A word of advice, never ever, EVER move into a house that looks haunted, gives you the shady vibes and is located at a secluded area. This movie is about a pair of paranormal investigators who helped a family to investigate the evil entity that is disturbing them in their new home. What makes it freakier is that it is based on a true story (if you’re happy and you know it clap your hand….).
4. Poltergeist (1982)
The Spielberg produced horror flick is about a family being terrorized by a crew of dark spirits after they have moved into a new home in a new development (seriously, what’s with haunted new homes?) One of the iconic lines in the history of horror movies, “They’re here” came from this movie. Apparently, this movie was cursed because a few casts from the movie died tragically after filming this movie. Rumor has it that the curse came from the actual human skeletons which they used as props.
5. Ghostbusters (2016)
Who you gonna call? This reboot, all-women version of Ghost Busters starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones is nothing short of gag and laughter. This is just the right pick for those who are horror intolerant (just like me). Did I mention that eye candy hunk, Chris Hemsworth is their absent-minded side kick?
6. Casper (1995)
This list will never be whole without this all-time classic, Casper! I mean, would you just look at that beautiful relationship between Kat and Casper the Friendly Ghost? Their dance scene still gets to me every single time *cries ugly tears*
7. Hocus Pocus (1993)
Yet another classic flick that revolves around three witches who returned 300 years later after being hung for their spell work in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. The three kids who accidentally resurrected them has to find a way to stop them from returning to Salem the way it was when they first lived. Hocus Pocus will definitely make your Halloween a blast with their over-the-top comedy.
