A wise man once said: “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
With the recent influx of strays in the streets of Kuala Lumpur, pet shelters around town are running out of space and resources to house these poor souls, thanks to a handful of irresponsible pet owners who decided to abandon their furry friend. Some of these pets were found in poor condition- abuse, starvation, lack of basic hygiene, et cetera.
So, if you’re looking for a new addition to the family or have the extra capacity to love more, do give adoption due considerations instead of getting them from retail pet stores because buying pets is another way which encourage unregulated breeding.
If you’re not able to adopt for the time being, fret not because you can always play a part to foster, sponsor, volunteer, donate, and educate about this cause. Our furry friends will have you to thank for 🙂
Here are 9 Malaysia animal shelters which will be the best place to help you with the adoption process:

9. Pak Mie’s Shelter
Known to be the only Malay couple in Malaysia who care for stray dogs and cats, Pak Mie’s Shelter is an independent shelter in Alor Setar. This is a rather unconventional pet-related NGO especially in Malaysia due to Pak Mie’s cultural restrictions. Years after the passing of Pak Mie, Ms Intan continued his legacy by keeping this shelter up and running. Similar to A Dog’s Life, Pak Mie’s Shelter feed, care and treat the strays.
