Classic fairy tale Disney movies have been a resurgence in the film industry as there have been multiple live-action remakes been produced over the years, such as Maleficent, Cinderella, Snow White and the Huntsman, Alice in Wonderland and the recently successful Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson taking the role of Belle. Furthermore, Disney has also announced a few movies that had gone MIA in production in years that will soon come to fruitful on the big screen. Along with Lucasfilms and Marvel Studios, Disney is set to provide an epic cinematic experience to fans of fairy tales, superheroes and space operas. So get hyped for these are some of the confirmed Disney sequels and live-action remakes to come in the future to hit us right in the nostalgic childhood feels.
1. Mulan
The story of the noble princess who went in place of her father to war is definitely a tale that needs to be retold in real life productions. Fa Mulan is exceptionally a true fighting Disney princess as she suit up as a man in armor in battling the invasion of Huns clan. The live adaptation is set to release in 2018.
2. Cruella
The live adaptation of 101 Dalmations will eventually focus on the iconic Disney villain, Cruella De Vil and her origin background story which is to be played by Emma Stone and is expected to release at the end of 2017 according to reports.
3. Toy Story 4
Say what? Didn’t it end already after that amazing emotional ending? It is rumoured that the next sequel of Andy’s gang of toys will feature a romance theme perhaps between Woody and Bo Peep or Buzz Lightyear and Jessie.
4. The Incredibles 2
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel to this spectacular superhero flick ever since the battle that is about to occurred in the ending with the Underminer although gamers have already experience that storyline in Playstation 2. Regardless, The Incredible is a fabulous family superhero movie, a treat to the Disney film libraries that shouldn’t go unnoticed without a sequel.
5. The Lion King
Following the success of The Jungle Book, Disney gives the green light for the The Lion King with Jon Favreau returning to direct the movie of talking animals with the cast of Seth Rogen and James Earl Jones that is to be released in 2019.
6. Cars 3
After the disappointing shitload Cars 2 (apologies for my language because it really does suck), Disney continues the story of fast-paced racing cars featuring Lightning McQueen with a different director and hopefully the movie would be as good as the trailer. Cars 3 is set to release in August in Malaysia.
7. The Sword In The Stone
The story of King Arthur has adapted and spawned into multiple films and even television series on the small screen. Thus, Disney has started working on the production to travel back to the medieval times to relive the adventure in live action.
8. Marvel Cinematic Universe
Multiple Marvel movies are set to release this year and the following such as Thor: Ragnarok and The Black Panther, with some are still in production. Still, we are probably most hyped in looking forward for the ultimate crossover Marvel superheroes movie, Avengers: Infinity War, to be separated into two parts.
9. Star Wars Expanded Universe
When it comes to the galaxy far far away, Disney doesn’t seem to be ending the Star Wars Universe anytime now and then after acquiring Lucasfilm as we are set to go on a hyperspace ride to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in December this year and its sequel set to be Episode 9 of the film series with a few anthology and standalone films along the way.
