Matcha flavoured things has always been a trend. And as the dessert game gets more complex, everyone’s trying to find new ways to serve green tea-flavoured desserts. So, I’ve compiled a couple of places for you to head to if you’re a matcha-head like me:
1. Green Tea Butter @ Mei by Fat Spoon, Desa Sri Hartamas
Croissants are just one of those things that’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. But what’s better than that? A warm, toasty croissant with a generous amount of deliciously creamy matcha butter. Whaaaaat.
Address: 22G, Jalan 27/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas
2. Green Tea Angel Falls @ Ahoy Cafe, SS15 Subang
This little dessert is interactive as it is beautiful. But of course, it’s not just the looks that’s amazing, it’s also delicious and has a warm green tea molten cake perched on a crescent cookie. Just break the cake to unleash the silky green tea lava onto the flower-strewn ice-cream.
Address: 74 Jalan SS15/4, 47500 Selangor Subang Jaya
3. Green Tea Mille Crepe Cake @ Arthur’s Hokkaido Mille Crepe Cake
Crepes are just one of those desserts that takes a lot of patience. But if you’re too lazy to do it, just head here for their green tea crepe cake. It’s layers are filled with chunks of red bean too.
Address: P6.38.00, Level 6, Pavilion KL, 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100, City Center, Kuala Lumpur
4. Green Tea Cream Puffs @ Beard Papa’s
Love cream puffs? Hey, get your mind out the gutter! I mean the pillow-like pastry shell filled with custard, but this time, green tea-vanilla custard. If you like green tea as much as I do, there’s no way you’re stopping at one.

6. Green Tea Tiramisu @ Tokyo Pastry
This little café is just simply adorable. But it also serves up a mean green tea tiramisu cake that will get you addicted. This Matchamisu cake consists of sheets of green tea chiffon cake, sandwiched between think laters of light mascarpone cream, along with bits of coffee-soaked cake mixed in. I’m already drooling.

But if you do, you’ll be rewarded with the luscious, gooey centre just waiting to go into your mouth. 10. Green Tea Not-Waffles @ Square Q Café
‘Not-waffles’? Seems suspicious. Well, this place serves you something that appears to be Belgian waffles but it’s actually glutinous rice flour and milk – it’s basically like the Japanese Mochi. Confused? Just try this chewy matcha not-waffle along with some toppings like fruits and cream.

11. Green Tea Lava Cake @ Okonomi

12. Green Tea Water Cake Ice-Cream @ Ichiban Boshi
‘Water cakes’ has been a trend on our social medias for a while because white people had just suddenly discovered it. But we’ve been making these cakes for a while now, basically making ‘water cakes’ a glorified agar-agar. But these green ea-infused water cakes, topped with whipped cream, vanilla ice-cream, colourful riceballs and crushed peanuts, is a something else. I mean, if you’re going to glorified agar-agar, this is the way to do it.
