April Fool’s is fast approaching – when was the last time you remembered pranking someone or being pranked at? Trust us when we say you’re never too old for some good-natured laughs!
Perhaps some inspiration to kickstart those creative juices flowing? We present to you our top 5 picks, guaranteed to tickle your funny bone like how it did on ours!
1. Paranormal Activity: The Malaysian Edition
A classic trick out from the books; flickering lights, objects falling and last but not least, the grand appearance of a mysterious ‘entity’.
But Vikar World managed to execute all this to near perfection, and that’s not the best part. The entire concept of this prank is conceptualised around a product placement, so that’s one ingenious way to boost up sales!
2. Selfie course….anyone?
It has been a few years since this inventive prank surfaced on our social media feeds, and Groupon themselves have since been rebranded into Fave – but who else can forget this particularly hilarious promotion?
Released just a day shy from April Fool’s, the deal claimed to offer a 100% discount on a beginner’s online selfie course that allows you to learn up to 10 different selfie techniques (LOL). Master the art of Asian Selfie, Selfieception, Extreme Selfie and so much more within one short course that promises you an abundance of knowledge when it comes to creative poses and an in-depth analysis on angles.
3. Taking Apple-inspired marketing to a whole new level
Everyone’s familiar with how Apple markets their products – think minimalist-clad professionals against a stark white background with inspiring music to accompany the commentary of why their technology tops it all.
Here’s the funny part – The Swagger Salon literally took a leaf out of their book and replicated the exact formula to comical results when it comes to introducing their upcoming t-shirt design! Expect lots of Manglish lingo, brand narcissism and of course, a close-up on the long-awaited product as well.

4. Innocent Sales Girl = Professional Drifter
One glance at Leona Chin’s sweet features and you’ll never guess her line of work – a professional drifter. Maxman.tv saw an excellent opportunity for a brilliant prank and boy, was it a successful one! So much for assuming a girl’s driving skills based on appearances alone, the video even caught one such man telling her “This is a man’s car you know”.
Cue 10 seconds later and that very same man is seen screaming at the top of his lungs while Leona deftly executes her drifting skills on a pick-up truck. HA!
5. Happy Hand-loween!
A straight-up prank, what makes this video so entertaining is Mark O’Dea‘s good-natured charm that appeases even some of the pissed off victims!
