It only took 3 days for the painting works to complete, thanks to help of 20 volunteers and temple workers!

Why the sudden refurbishment?
It’s all because of Kumbhabhishekham ritual, which takes place once in every 12 years. Every Hindu temple needs to go through cleansing or rejuvenation process once every 12 years, starting from the year where the temple was built.
This holy Hindu ritual is believed to homogenize, synergize and unite the mystic powers of the temple and deity. Sprinkling of holy water on top of the temple is also part of the ritual.
That aside, we can’t help but to agree that the famous steps is now super Insta-worthy!

Despite the excitement towards the brand new look, there were reports stating that the paint job and renovation work were not approved by the National Heritage Department (JWN). So, Batu Cave is in risk of being removed from the National Heritage Site list.
But still, is nice to see that we have a colourful temple and we bet that there are more reasons now that ever for tourists and Malaysians to visit Batu Cave!
