FOUR FAVOURITE CAFES
LET’S TALK CAFÉS
Café culture has officially taken us all over. I mean, let’s face it. The majority of us find ourselves naturally gravitating towards the pull of all-day breakfast dining, bottomless coffee and a choice selection of premium teas and maybe even fruit juices on slower weekdays, regular weekends or when we have that novel we’re simply dying to get started on. For some unbeknownst reason or other, the force of the indie (or for some, “hipster”) cafés is strong in us all.
IF YOU JUST CAN’T SAY NO TO SOMETHING SINFULLY SWEET…
Fluffed Café tucked away in inconspicuous Taman Paramount in Petaling Jaya is the place for you. Here, the air
is always nicely thick and sweet— talk about putting one in the mood! It’s not just the perfect setting for sweets
with the sweethearts, it’s also a place for some wicked photos with lots of beautiful natural light. (Thanks to all them big glass panes.) A definite two thumbs licked, err, I mean, up!

IS COFFEE YOUR MIDDLE NAME?
If you’ve just found you answered “YES!” to that out loud, then you know you need to take a step in the right
direction and head to First Step Coffee. When you take that first step into First Step, you’re immediately greeted by a very homey look and feel. Rustic and authentic are two of the things First Step takes great pride in. Word on the street is that the coffee beans are never kept past 10 days. That’s how fresh the brew is there. And the cakes aren’t half bad either.

GOT CROWD?
I Am 80’s Café is the ultimate celebration of all that was great about the eight-y! 80’s babies, rejoice! Decorated
with a whole lot of funky knick-knacks from the era of my childhood years (ahem, I should be careful. Think my age might be showing!) it has a (not-so) secret underground space that is perfect for large(r) groups and ALL THE
PICTURES!!!! The menu is one that is full of surprises, too. So bring your friends. Bring your family. Heck, bring ‘em both! Bring them all. After all, who can resist the draw of excellent company? I know I can’t. And isn’t life— and all its best bits —just so much better shared?
A LITTLE BIT OF THIS, A LITTLE BIT OF THAT.
Sometimes you’re in the mood for something sweet whilst your friend might be feeling for something
salty/savoury. Fret not, Yellow Brick Road is one café that celebrates them both. Gloriously. A bonus point
to it being a café named for the evergreen children’s book Wizard Of Oz. Although it’s hardly Oz, the menu selections will significantly impress. Promise.
