One of the most iconic shows of our childhood – Spongebob Squarepants, has been running for 19 years as of 2018.
Earlier this month, news about the cancellation of Spongebob Squarepants have surfaced on social media and caused a huge frenzy among fans.

The tweet stems from the Spongebob official Twitter account and has since spread like wild fire on sites like Facebook and Instagram. It was completely out of the blue with no warning whatsoever – and everyone was quick to share it.

As it turns out, the news was fake. Fans of the show rejoiced and found out that it was untrue – noting that the Spongebob official Twitter account posted no such tweet and the fact that Entertainment Weekly has just reported the renewal of a new season.

Spongebob is currently on its 11th season on Nickelodean and the show has been renewed for another season back in May 2017. A 26-episodes, 12th season is set to premiere in 2019.

Apparently, this hoax of a rumor surfaces almost every year, with a different Photoshopped tweet each time.
Spongebob’s story seems never-ending and we’d like to keep it that way.
