Jennifer Lopez, the 55-year-old singer and actress known as J.Lo, has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, marking the end of their marriage after more than two years.
The filing was made on this year’s 20th of August, with Lopez citing 26th of April of this year as the date of their separation. Notably, Lopez is representing herself in the divorce proceedings, having filed without legal assistance.
The couple, who had a traditional wedding ceremony in Georgia on 20th of August 2022, just over a month after their Las Vegas marriage on 17th of July 2022, have reportedly been facing difficulties for some time.
Rumors said that Lopez was “done waiting,” leading to the couple’s separation. Lopez even canceled her summer tour to focus on family, and the pair put their Beverly Hills home up for sale.
Their final collaboration, Lopez’s musical documentary This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, premiered on Prime Video in February 2024 alongside her album of the same name. However, tensions reportedly escalated after the couple spent significant time apart in May, with Lopez promoting her film Atlas and preparing for her national tour, while Affleck stayed in Los Angeles to film The Accountant 2.
Despite making public appearances together, sources indicate that their differing personalities and approaches to life in the public eye created daily challenges.
The couple spent much of the summer apart, with Lopez celebrating her 55th birthday and their second wedding anniversary on 4th of July in the Hamptons, while Affleck remained in Los Angeles.
