Last Saturday, Kiwanis Malaysia teamed up with MBO Cinemas and invited over 3,400 children to catch “Dumbo” in cinemas at Atria Shopping Gallery.
Officiated by Selangor State Assemblywoman YB Lim Yi Wei, joined by MBO’s General Manager of Sales & Marketing, Ms Jamie Tiong, and District Governor of Kiwanis Malaysia, Mr Ivan Oh.
Other key attendees who were present at the launch included Ibu Kiwanis and wife to the late Tan Sri Khir Johari, Puan Sri Khir Johari; Timothy Chu, JCI Malaysia National Vice President; and En Kamarul Hisham Bin Hj Yeop Hashim, a member of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).
“The collaboration with MBO to bring this opportunity to children not only brings smiles and cheers for the day, but more importantly, it helps spark imagination and bring home lessons on positive values such as to accept differences or to strive until success is achieved.” explains Mr Ivan Oh.
Not only was the event held in Atria Shopping Gallery but as well as 23 other MBO outlets in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Ipoh, Skudai, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Teluk Intan, Taiping and so many more.
“It was humbling to hear that for some of the children, this was the first time they visited a cinema. We hope they brought home some good memories from this experience,” added Jamie, General Sales & Marketing Manager of MBO Cinemas.
It’s great to see kids coming from different walks of life, facing different challenges coming together to watch a beautiful movie that inspires.
The event was made successful with the participation of JCI Malaysia pursuant as a partner to Kiwanis Malaysia. Other partners such as Coca-Cola, Pizza Hut and Dutch Lady sponsored assorted food and beverages for all the children.
Kiwanis Malaysia is an NGO that caters in helping teens and kids in need, and have been doing so for more than 40 years! With 6 intervention centres for Down Syndrome children, 4 job training centres for mentally challenged children and youths and 8 care centres catering for special needs children. Kiwanis continue to pour their hearts into causes that help empower and encourage these kids.
