It’s sad to think that Hari Raya is coming up soon with the country still facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
While many think that the show must go on, there has been a standing debate on whether any Ramadan bazaars would still be ongoing during this time.
On April 1st, Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari announced that there will be no Ramadan bazaars in Selangor this year.
This decision comes after Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak and Klang in Selangor were declared red zones due to a high number of Covid-19 cases in these areas. It is so severe that Hulu Langat is being placed on enhanced movement control order.
Due to this, netizens are feeling a little down.

30 days until Ramadan.
If this Coronavirus still continues until Ramadan. That means this year Ramadan will be very different cause I’ve never lived a Ramadan without community (Taraweeh, Bazaar & etc). If true, I will put my trust in Allah and Allah swt knows best. https://t.co/tIT5pXvIxx

Amirudin said that there would be other routes to obtain items required during the festival season, according to The Star.
“I believe there will be online Ramadan bazaars that will offer delivery,’’ Amirudin told reporters after announcing the state’s second stimulus package.
Despite that, there is still hope! Amirudin mentioned that the current ban due to the Covid-19 pandemic may be lifted, however this would depend on the Health Ministry’s decision.
The Health Director-General Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has previously said that if Ramadan bazaars were to take place, proper crowd control measures should be implemented.
But for now, we could only hope for the best and that Malaysians would be safe during the current pandemic.
