A history-making win for both the country and para-athlete champion – S. Suresh.
Para-athlete, S. Suresh, made Malaysia proud when he reigned champion at the World Archery Para Championship last Sunday (June 9th).
S. Suresh’s victory over 2015 World Champion United States’ Eric Bennett (7-3) had Malaysia winning the first-ever Gold in Para-Archery at this year’s World Archery Para Championship that was held in s-Hertogenbosch, Holland.

However, the feat wasn’t an easy one coming from S. Suresh’s background: having to lost his left leg when he was as young as 13-years-old. This victory also gave S. Suresh and his family a new start – an RM80,000 reward by the National Sports Council scheme.
S. Suresh’s journey as a para-athlete champion has just begun as he scored himself a place at the Tokyo Paralympics next year after being the top 16 finishers in S-Hertogenbosch.
S. Suresh’s win was an inspiring one after Hashini Nawawi’s Silver at the London Paralympic Games (2012) and the late-Salam Sidik’s Bronze in Turin (Bronze).
We’re rooting for you, S. Suresh for the Tokyo Paralympics 2020! Congratulations on this memorable feat!
