Looks like no where is ever safe, as many of you may have already seen the horrors of taking lifts, a 48-year-old woman was brutally beaten before getting robbed by a man in a lift at an MRT station located in Cheras.
As seen in the 56-second video where a woman who entered the lift followed by a suspicious man who seconds later brutally beat and robbed the lady.
While the culprit has been captured, there is never an assurance that we may never be next. Take some time to read these safety tips in hopes that you won’t be taken advantage of.
1. Carry pepper spray
Although up against a situation like this, it is often that we don’t have time to take out the pepper spray. Our advice is to take out the pepper spray before going into dangerous areas. Being on standby mode is always a good way to avoid being attacked.
2. Don’t get distracted
Although in the age of technology it is often that we get distracted with our mobile phones, we lose sight of what’s in front and what’s at the back of us.
The tip is to avoid getting distracted and put your phone to rest especially when walking alone or at quiet areas.
3. Give them what they ask for
Your life is worth more than what’s in your bag. Give them what they ask for and later take action with the police and the authorities.
4. Avoid displaying your belonging
Don’t temp them. Avoid taking out laptops or huge sums of money in public.
5. If possible, travel with friends
Attackers are usually afraid of crowds. Get your friends to travel with you or just walk where the crowd is at.
6. Walk with confidence
If you are alone, walk with confidence. Act like you can protect yourself. Thief’s wouldn’t want to attack someone who looks like they can defend themselves.
