Have you ever heard of the Borneo Art Festival? It’s annual affair which happens in Labuan that showcases the talents of many artists across Malaysia, along with neighbors from nations such as Brunei and Indonesia.
So, if you’re a fan of local art festivals, the good news is that Borneo Art Festival is back again for the 5th time! With cultural and contemporary performances on display for all to see, the festival looks to be a must-go if you’re planning to travel to Labuan next month as the Borneo Art Festival will be taking place from the 28th to the 30th of September.
Labuan, for those who may not be in the know, is one of Malaysia’s federal territories. It’s made up of the eponymous Labuan Island and six other islands which are smaller in size. It’s located off the coast of Sabah.

Organized by the Labuan Corporation and the Department of Tourism, Culture & Arts, there is a wide array of programs in line this year, such as displays of traditional ethnic music and fusion concerts that combine the old instruments and the new. There are also to be displays of traditional fashion, along with visual arts displays.
Additionally, there’s even going to be tattoo shows and a fire-eating contest which is sure to get the blood pumping. This is also the perfect opportunity to some authentic traditional handicrafts and original artwork from the region.
