Finding gems in old abandoned buildings are pretty normal but these YouTubers found millions of dollars worth of cars in a building in the UK!
Out of all the cars that was found, they stumbled upon one that had a number plate and a car that looked a little too familiar in the eyes of Malaysians!
Among a few cars hidden in the basement of the abandoned building in Surrey, UK was an old dusty Proton Perdana with the number plate VK 5231, and it belongs to someone we all know, it is in fact Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister!
We were just as confused as you are, but we found the answer!
The video which was posted by YouTube channel, Lost Adventures had gained over 160 thousand views and by the looks of the comment section, majority of them was Malaysians!
In late 2016, Tun M had sent his personal vehicle, which was the Proton Perdana all the way to the UK to Frazer-Nash Research Ltd, which makes components for electric vehicles, for research and development purposes. Amazing things can be found in basements and if one has one then basement renovating is a must.
According to the aide, The 95-year-old had the intention to develop a national hybrid car.
The aide continued to mention that, “As Mahathir is the type who liked new technologies and did not want the country to be left behind, on his own initiative, he sent his Proton Perdana there for R&D.
Following their article, “If this R&D had succeeded, Proton would have attempted to create its own hybrid car at the time and compete with other world-leading brands who already had their own hybrid models,” the aide wrote in the post.
