This startup is turning wheels: from waste to treasure, one bike at a time.
Some see it as waste, but not for Vélosophy who broke the boundaries of recycling and turned the boring old metal, aluminium, into a bike: The RE:CYCLE Bike.

These sleek bikes aren’t just made for sustainability, but also made to fit the urban lifestyle. After two years of working the dream to reality, Jimmy Östholm, former IKEA communications manager took his passion for bikes and turned it into a revolutionary lifestyle.
The limited-edition bikes also feature a cup holder, just because.
Östholm mentioned in an article that recycling the aluminium wasn’t the tricky part, but to convert it into something tough and workable, safe enough for bicycle riders was the main hurdle in the process of creating the RE:CYCLE bike. Well, they did it anyway!
A study has also mentioned that a whopping 56 billion single-use coffee capsules are produced each year, only to end up in landfills.
But the team from Vélosophy truly saw beyond the waste and turned it into treasure. Holding a #OneForOne concept, each bicycle sold also promises a schoolgirl with a bicycle, in partnership with World Bicycle Relief.

The RE:CYCLE bike is currently sold at €1,290 ($1,446). With this force to be reckoned with, it surely won’t be long till we see newer ventures continuing the chains of sustainability!
