1. It makes you feel complicated
Most patients that have gone through sleep paralysis described it as a waking up dead. The patients usually know that their mind is awake but their bodies are not. It is kind of like the feeling of being trapped in the moment.

The hallucinations occur between sleeping and waking up when your mind is alert. However, it is rare for true visual and auditory hallucinations to actually happen.
3. It’s impossible to just wake yourself up
Sleep paralysis can last for a few seconds or even minutes. Hence, some patients would try to wiggle their toes, fingers to help them wake up the rest of their body. But the truth is, it will not help because all you can do is just to wait it out.

Everyone will experience sleep paralysis at least once in your lifetime. However, this phenomenon mostly occurs within young adults and people with a history of mental illness.
