They say there’s a reason why when two people make a wager on something, they often say, “Let’s make this interesting”.
Maybe this was why Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic reached out to English footballer David Beckham over Instagram to challenge him to a bet over the then upcoming Sweden vs England match in the World Cup.
He further upped the stakes by replying, “But when England win, I want you to come to watch an England game at Wembley, wearing an England shirt and enjoy fish and chips at half time.”
Last Saturday night’s match ended in England winning a 2 – 0 victory over Sweden. After full 90 minutes were played out, it appears that his words aren’t the only thing Zlatan will have to eat.
However, in a show of sportsmanship worthy of respect, Zlatan appears to be ready to honour his wager.
He responded to Beckham after the match in his Instastory with just three words. But they were more than enough to get the point across.

Count on Zlatan to be able to make three words sound both like a concession to an agreement and a threat at the same time.
Fans around the world were greatly amused by the playful ribbing between the two world class athletes.
They also responded positively to Zlatan’s show of sportsmanship by conceding honorably.
We are all looking forward to seeing Zlatan in his new shirt, supporting his new team while eating one of their signature foods.
