It’s that time of the year again for Ramadhan bazaar galore!

How well do you know your Malaysian kuihs? From sweet to savoury, here are 11 Must-Try Traditional Malay Kuihs you can find at your favourite Ramadhan bazaars:
1. Tepung Pelita

Tepung Pelita is a salty-sweet combination Malay dessert made from rice flour, coconut milk and sugar syrup wrapped with a square-mold made from Pandan Leaves. Try eating it cold!
2. Onde-onde
This mochi-like dessert is a coconut-bomb. Filled with liquid coconut sugar in the inside and covered with freshly grated coconut on the outside. Chewy and addictive – be careful, it explodes!
3. Roti Jala
Also known as “net-like pancake”, Roti Jala is a savoury kuih usually served with chicken curry. This soft kuih is the perfect alternative if you’re not feeling for rice!
4) Kek Batik
Crunchy, sweet and chocolatey – perfect for sweet-tooths. This sweet Malaysian delicacy is made from Marie biscuits with LOTS OF Milo. Simple even to make it at home!
5) Seri Muka
A two-layered dessert with steamed glutinous rice at the bottom and a green custard layer on top made from pandan juice – Seri Muka is one of the staple Malaysian traditional delicacy. Did you know Seri Muka is one of the 100 Malaysian Heritage Food and Drinks?
6) Kuih Lapis
Originated from Indonesia, and known as the Nine-layered Kuih. Pair it with a cup of coffee or tea!
7) Bingka Kemboja
Some call it Kuih Bakar, this flower-shaped kuih has a slightly burnt exterior with a creamy custard centre made from pandan and coconut.
8) Kuih Ketayap
Coconut lovers, rejoice! Filled with palm sugar and grated coconut wrapped in a thin omelette will definitely leave coconut lovers wanting for more.
9) Lepat Pisang
A steamed version of the Pisang Goreng (Fried Banana). Made from a combination of mashed bananas and sago, which is then wrapped in banana leaves and steamed to perfection.
10) Kuih Sago
Rose flavoured kuih with small sago pearls covered with grated coconut. It is a mildly-sweet dessert which is not only beautiful on the outside!
11) Pulut Pangang
Glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves that’s been grilled. This Malay delicacy is sweet and spicy and comes in either fish or prawn filling. We’re already salivating!
