Artists often write songs based on their experiences with their love lives, both past and current.
Artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Beyoncé have a few songs about their relationships.
Musicians often find inspiration from experiences and places so it’s not uncommon for hit songs to be inspired by iconic celebrity romances or some feuds to say the least.
Well, here are a few famous songs and who they are about – or at least widely believed to be about.
1. ‘All of Me’ by John Legend is about Chrissy Teigen
Legend confirmed to LA Confidential that the song is about his wife, Chrissy Teigen. But Teigen doesn’t really get emotional about the song anymore as she has heard it way too often.
2. Taylor Swift accidentally confirmed that the song ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ is in fact about Harry Styles
As we all already know, Taylor is famous for writing many songs about her love life but she doesn’t often admit who inspires each and every hit. However, during the UK’s Sunday Times, Taylor may have accidentally let it slip that her song called ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ was about Harry.
3. ‘Mirrors’ by Justin Timberlake is about Jessica Biel
It turns out that Justin has been writing songs about his wife for years as he revealed in his book ‘Hindsight’ that his hit song ‘Mirrors’ is about finding your true love, and in his case, Jessica.
4. Britney Spears’ ‘Everytime’ is about Justin Timberlake
After their relationship ended in 2002, the duo reportedly wrote songs about their relationship. ‘Cry Me a River’ by Justin Timberlake is about Britney Spears while ‘Everytime’ by Britney is about Justin. There wasn’t any confirmation whether or not the songs are about their breakup but the music video for ‘Cry Me a River’ features a girl who looks like Britney herself.
‘Everytime’ by Britney includes lyrics like, ‘I may have made it rain / Please forgive me’ that tie into the river theming of Justin’s song, ‘Cry Me a River’.
5. Songs from Justin Bieber’s album ‘Changes’ have references to Hailey Baldwin
The couple were married in 2018, so it’s not really a surprise that Justin’s newest album is about Hailey Baldwin. Songs like ‘Yummy’ and ‘Intentions’ talk about Hailey’s success in her modelling career.
It’s completely normal for artists to write songs about their exes or their current relationships!
