Have you registered yourself as a voter? Well if you have not, here are a few reasons why you should!
1.Every Vote Counts
“Aiyaa, I don’t need to vote la, not like my vote will help win also”. Have you used this excuse to avoid participating in the general elections?
Well, you are definitely wrong because every vote counts! Many youths tend to feel that their vote does not matter, because what does 1 vote do?
The largest eligible group of voters that did not register to vote during the previous general elections are the youths, this is according to the Election Commission of Malaysia.
2.Youths Have an Opinion too!
Twitter users are most likely to tweet about their opinions all over social media making political topics the #1 trending on twitter.
With loud opinions on social media, comes great responsibilities that should be put into action. Registering to vote is a great example of sharing your opinions and becoming a responsible Malaysian.
3.It Has Become Increasingly Easy to Become an Educated Voter
Living in a generation where the internet is literally at the tip of our fingers and a google search engine is just a tap away!
Take a minute or two and search up the political state of our country and with just a few minutes of research, you’ll instantly get information that you do not usually hear on mainstream media.
And that my friends, is how you become an educated voter.
4.You Can Sway an Election
As said, young voters make up a large portion of voters in Malaysia, so much so that it could sway an election and make that change that Malaysia so desperately needs.
5.Registering to Vote Has Become So Easy!
To register as a voter, all you have to do is head over to MySPR Daftar portal, and submit a few documents, which are:
- Your personal details
- A picture of your MyKad
- A selfie holding your MyKad
Next, all you have to do is log into your email where you’ll receive an activation link. Once that’s done you can go ahead and activate your account with the TAC verification code.
Once you’re logged into your account, you will need to fill up a little more details followed by another verification code.
Told you it was that easy!
But if you’re not tech-savvy and prefer registering manually, then all you have to do is head down to your nearest post office but remember to bring along your MyKad!
If you reside overseas don’t fret because all you have to do is register at the Malaysian embassy or consulate.
So, there you go, its as simple as that. What are you waiting for? register yourself as a voter now before it is too late!
