The 2010s are over and the new decade is upon us.
Most of us probably already have our yearly resolutions down. But do we truly achieve them? Achieving goals in our lives could greatly affect our success in life.
When we set goals and give direction to our lives, we can have a shot at a better outcome. And once we achieve those goals, not only will we have a sense of accomplishment, but we will also be inspired to want to succeed even more in our lives.
Here is a list of 5 ways to achieve your goals.
1. Ask yourself, what is it that you really want?
First and foremost you should know what you’re looking for. Be sure that you are specific about what you want.
2. Use S.M.A.R.T
The acronym stands for :
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Realistic
- Time-limited
Instead of saying I want to learn an instrument, a SMART goal would be “I want to learn the violin till I reach 8th grade by 2020”
3. Write your goals down
According to Henriette Anne Klauser’s book, the first step to achieving your goals is to write them down. A simple act of writing down your notes can help you focus your attention on your goals so you don’t lose sight of them!
4. Positivity from friends
It’s no lie that negative and toxic people do nothing but hinder your progress. Look for friends who won’t constantly project their insecurities onto you during conversations. Someone that would want nothing but the best for you and who would want to see your progress.
5. Constantly staying positive
One of our biggest impediments when trying to achieve our goals would be “failure”. Failure might be common, but giving up should never be an option. When achieving your goals, you might run into some setbacks. But always have a positive attitude and tell yourself that all these setbacks you’re experiencing may just make you an even better person!
