Last year alone, we’ve witness yet another release of the brand new iPhone X series. Many people were captivated with its enhanced features (namely, the AR). However, it is no surprise that most of us have not quite figured out the basic functions of an iPhone. So, before we get ahead of ourselves and our bank account, let’s look into the basic functions that every model has to offer which will help us to enhance our daily lives immensely.
1) Use the Compass app to level surfaces
Believe it or not, you can actually do do more than just checking direction on the compass app — you can use it as a handy level! Here’s how you can make it work:
i. Place your iPhone flat on the surface of the object you’re trying to level off.
ii. Tilt your iPhone in all directions until you hit 0 degrees and the screen turns green. (this means that the surface is level!)
iii. You can tap once to turn the black screen red, and it will stay that way until your iPhone is level, at which point it’ll turn green.
2) Hard-reset (to totally erase all the content from your iPhone)
Have you realized that home button of the iPhone isn’t really just a home button? Just press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo. You can let go of both buttons after the Apple logo appears. Hard reset is only applicable for those who are reselling their phones. Do not mistaken this as soft-reset, which is typically used when certain application is not working.
3) Calculator Undo
Life saver for those who have butter fingers but has to use the calculator app on a frequent basis. Fortunately, you can swipe across the number left or right, and each swipe will remove a single digit number at the end of the figure.
4) Telling you who is calling you now
iPhone can literally tell you who is calling you without needing to look at the phone screen. Activate this cool feature by Settings -> Phone-> Announce calls. It will announce the name of the caller out loud.
5) Create random passwords generated by Siri
Coming out with passwords can be a mundane task. With Siri, you’re able to get randomly generated password when you are signing up a new account. Safari can help you to remember passwords but it is not the same for other web browser.
6) The secret magnifying glass
This feature is perfect for reading small prints. Activate this feature by going to Settings-> General-> Accessibility->Magnifier. After completing the activation, tap home button three times to turn on the magnifier. It has a slider to control the zoom, as well as flashlight function.
