So, have you been waiting all your life to get your first ever tattoo and you’ve finally gotten your parent’s approval?
Well here are a few things you should know before getting your tat!
Remember, tattoos are permanent and so that’s why it’s best to do your homework before you get one.
1.Don’t take any tattoo decisions lightly
It’s best to think hard about which tattoo design you want to get before walking into the tattoo shop. You should think twice or more before getting the tattoo you want because tattoo-ing your boyfriend’s initials on your arm isn’t really a great idea. Yes, tattoo removal does exist, but it is painful.
2.Do your research
Now that you know what tattoo design you want to get, it’s important to find the right tattoo artist that would do a great job, or else you’ll be screwed. Go through some tattoo artists’ Instagram profile and see their past works. A talented tattoo artist would listen to your description of what tattoo you want and propose designs according to your description.
3.Make sure that safety comes first
You should look at the surrounding of the place before doing your tattoo there – see if the facilities are okay, are they clean? A good place with good sanitation is where your tattoo artist unwraps a new needle in front of you instead of reusing an old needle. If the sanitation at that place isn’t clean, it’s best you don’t do your tattoo there as used needles could result in skin infection.
4.Don’t haggle
There’s a price for everything and there’s a reason that it’s that pricey. A good tattoo artist deserves the right to charge what they charge. Avoid haggling, don’t be cheap! You don’t want a bad result.
5.It will hurt
The level of pain depends on where you want your tattoo to be, so there’s not really a great estimation of how painful it would be. Tattoos over the bone tend to hurt more, so be prepared.
6.Remember the aftercare steps
A tattoo takes time to heal. Protect the tattoo to avoid infection by applying ointment or cream over your new ink. Don’t plan to go swimming or soak yourself for a long time as it’s healing. Don’t scratch it or even think about scratching it.
