The mastermind behind some of the world’s iconic buildings may have passed on, but his legacy stands tall on the face of earth, forever!
The name“César Pelli” would’ve surely ring a bell to Malaysians, for he is the architect behind our nation’s iconic Petronas Twin Towers.
Born in Argentine, the renowned architect passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2019. The late César Pelli was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, such as the American Institute of Architects’ 1995 Gold Medal, Aga Khan Award in Architecture in 2004 (Petronas Towers), Konex de Brillante Award, and many more others. César Pelli’s has designed many of the world’s iconic skyscrapers.
Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir, has also shared his condolences on social media:

1. Petronas Twin Towers
Standing at an astonishing 88 storeys, the Petronas Twin Towers was one of Pelli’s renown work. Overlooking the Kuala Lumpur city, the Petronas Twin Towers is also the tallest twin towers in the world.
2. Brookfield Place, New York City
Still standing magnificently tall, the Brookfield Place was also previously known as the World Financial Centre of NYC. Consisting of four towers, each at over 500 feet tall, and the dome-shaped Winter Garden that sits elegantly between the towers, Brookfield Place truly innovates New York city as a place of celebration.
3. One Canada Square
50-stories high, the One Canada Square is the fifth tallest building in London. More than just a sight to behold, the One Canada Square represents the heart of Britain’s economic revolution.
4. National Museum of Art in Osaka, Japan
One of César Pelli’s most impressive work of art, the National Museum of Art in Osaka. Housing treasured artworks from renown artists all across the globe, this bamboo-shaped and modern-looking building truly leave visitors a lasting memory of the city!
5. International Finance Centre, Hong Kong
The International Finance Centre, Hong Kong, consists of two towers, in which, Tower 2 reigns the tallest building in Hong Kong. The building evidently marks Hong Kong’s triumphant economic glory.
6. Salesforce Tower in San Francisco
The Salesforce Tower is one of San Franciso’s most glorious centrepiece. Emerging at 1070-feet tall, the Salesforce Tower is also San Francisco’s tallest skyscraper.
7. Torre Cristal, Madrid
Translated as “Glass Tower”, The Torre Cristal is the tallest skyline in Spain. Literally taking the “skies” to “skyscraper”, the building stays true to it’s name, giving reverence in all angles.
