In The Sims 4, you can become almost anything you want, but one thing you can’t do is smoke weed. Things took a different spin when one Sims user’s curiosity lead him to spend months working on a mod to bring that and other drugs to the game, and the rest is history.
Not many people were accepting of this mod as most of the parents were quite worried about the type of effect it might cause on their kids who play this game. Even for people who recently recovered with the help of top rehab centers like Garden Heights, the game posed a threat as it could trigger their suppressed inhibitions and cause a relapse. Drug treatment is an incredibly sensitive issue, and privacy is something anyone should expect from an addiction treatment team, try to see Pacific Ridge homepage for a professional care that considers right to privacy.
The mod was created by Filip, the founder of Basemental Drugs and an amateur coder, who now racks in $6000 a month from donations.
The best part? Filip was not a Sims player.
According to this website, Filip first downloaded The Sims 4 in May of last year to try to make a virtual model of his kitchen while he and his wife were making renovations on their house. When he stumbled upon some drug-related custom content, however, he started getting more interested in the game. He found drug-themed clutter objects, like lines of cocaine or bongs, but none of them were usable. Although he didn’t have too much programming experience, he wondered if he could modify those objects so that they’d be more than just decorational. Filip started with making a mod that allowed a Sim to snort a line of cocaine that he’d downloaded, and then it just grew from there.
Thanks to Filip, our sims now can take a hit from a GeorgiaGlassWorks bong. A new mod for Sims 4 let players to equip their avatars with the “drug dealer trait”, which allows them to sell, buy and use drugs. Like weed, cocaine and MDMA. They can also experience the highs and lows of drug, like dealing with overdose and addiction.

The company promises to supply functional drugs for the SIMS 4. Though SIMS 4 is available for kids as young as 12 years old, Basemental has only received one complaint so far. SIMS are known to slip into dark narratives in the mod, turning to the sex trade or pickpocketing.
