Life can get really busy sometimes, and we forget our childhood days of running around and playing outside. But I know we all long for the days where we can once again run around and have some actual fun without adult responsibilities to stop us. So here’s a taste of your childhood~ and maybe your children’s future ‘childhood’:
Well, this is a no-brainer. Legoland is Asia’s first Lego theme park and opened its doors in 2012 at Nusajaya, Johor. In 2012, it had expanded and introduced its new Legoland Water Park to everyone. There’s also a new Star Wars section indoors where Star Wars fans (like me) can totally nerd out in. You can also appreciate intricate Lego sculptures of Yoda, R2-D2, Darth Vader and other Sith Lords, because it’s epic. No? Guess I’m looking for friends in Alderaan places… No? Guess that joke came off Luke warm…
2. ESCAPE Adventure Play Theme Park
Are you the outdoorsy type? Then this place is perfect for you. This theme park is an adventure park that has rides and games in a natural environment. Opened in 2012, this is the only theme park in Penang. Here, you can expect rides and games for different ages and activities that allow you to leap through the air, climb a tower like a lizard, or you can swing through the air and yell like George of the Jungle. Because that isn’t annoying. People will love you.
3. Hello Kitty Town
I’m going to be honest here, Sanrio was 90% of my childhood and My Hello Kitty was my password for years. So why not pass on that craze to the younger generation? This is the perfect place to bring your kids to as they enjoy the joys of Sanrio Town. I mean, I never got to experience a physical Sanrio Town, so I might head here myself just for the hell of it and enjoy a host of attractions and interactive rides. There’s also a really cool fully-furnished Kitty House you can get a tour of, and you can also get your nails done there, Sanrio-style. You can also get jewellery-making courses, make cookies, and puke them all out on a Tea-cup ride, because why the hell not? Who’s with me?
And if you’re a sexist person and think men can’t enjoy Hello Kitty, then you can just take your manly ego and head on to Thomas Town where you can enjoy some manly blue-coloured trains that will fit your manliness better.
4. A’Famosa Theme Park
If you’re looking for a place to cool down in this harsh Malaysian heat, then this is where you go. It contains a tonne of entertaining water-related rides that’ll provide you with highly thrilling experiences. And once you’re done getting water in your lungs, you can chill on some white sandy beaches and enjoy the sound of screaming children. Do note that if you dislike the sounds of children and any noise they may make, then just head to a regular beach. Or you can just head on to their Safari Wonderland where you can imagine throwing kids into a tiger’s cage, or less macabre, their Old West attraction where you an ogle cute cowboys.
Every wanted to trek but in a sky? Well, someone got that idea during a shower and figured to make that thought a reality. At this theme park, you can trek from tree-to-tree and enjoy various aerial adventure activities like flying, swinging, gliding, dangling and other forest adventures you always wanted to do with your squirrel friends. No? Just me? Ok. Think it’s going to be easy? Well it might be… on one level. Because the activities are based on difficulty levels; Little Adventure, Big Thrill and Extreme Challenge. I’m just going to stick to the Little Adventure level with my little squirrel friends.
Known for its pretty colourful light trees that I’m sure TNB loves, it also has quite a nice theme park. It also has a really great water theme park with like a tonne of rides and something called the Ultimate Tornado that is the first of its kind in South East Asia. But do check out their other attractions such as the Space Mission, SnoWalk, House of Horror, Trick Art Museum (a.k.a a 3D art museum) and some other fun stuff. Also, since I’m writing about it, I might as well point out that you guys should really check out their website because the pictures are amazing, and also head on to their Space Mission webpage for a heart-attack. Make sure you turn your volumes up just as you click into the page!
7. KidZania
One of the biggest names in the world today is KidZania, where you can send your kids there for a day of fun. The place has a tonne of fun interactive and entertaining indoor workshops to empower your kids, so they can come home to you and ask you a million questions you don’t have time to answer. Best of all? You’re not alone! KidZania is in many countries too! And you don’t even have to worry about them once they go in because the park truly cares for their safety more than any parent do because they’d lose more money losing a child than most parents would. Once inside, the place will teach your kids how to visit banks and withdraw money so they can start learning how to leech off you, control aircraft so that they can get inspired to become pilots one day and fly you off everywhere when you retire early, and also the place will give them the opportunity to look at over 90 different career options so that they can answer the question you’re going to have for another decade or so; when are you going to start working and leave my house. And also many many other interactive stuff.
8. Movie Animation Park Studios
Are you a movie buff? Then this place is for you! Many have state that this place is super entertaining no matter how old you are. This is true because I’m 25 and I’m still excited for every Disney/Pixar movie out there. There is also 6 thematic zones and about 40 attractions. Best of all? It’s mostly an indoor park (whatever that could be fit under a roof, is under a roof) so you can hide away from the sun and actually enjoy yourself. The park also features Malaysia’s tallest drop tower, along with a thrilling live car stunt show, and yes, these rides are outside. But you can play around with the Smurfs. They tend to be indoors.
